Ever tried those online affiliate programs or getting paid to take surveys?
I’ve been wondering how well they work, if at all. Some affiliate programs I’ve seen are on websites for legitimate companies, like CompUSA, Staples, and I think Barnes & Noble.
As for the paid surveys, I’m less certain about those, because I don’t know who the companies are.
Anyway, just thought I’d ask if others have tried to use those ideas as extra income…or what others think of such ideas.

Yes and they are crap. I have been with one for more than 2 years, and I’ve been to only one paid survey, I did get $80 but one survey in a year or more is not a way to make a living.
Yes I am earning $ 200+ per month with affiliate program and paid surveys.

AFFILIATE PROGRAMS
I have been an affilate for others and now run an affiliate program for my company. It is possible to make some money with programs but a reasonable expectation is that without a lot of work on your part, it is "additional" income, not a primary income.
A question to ask is why someone who wants a book would go to your website rather than directly to someone like Barnes and Noble. Good affiliate programs will give you a unique product or a unique access point that makes it worthwhile for someone to find something through you.
The affiliates making big money will have mailing lists of their own where they can send special offers. When you can get to this point companies will pay you to send their offers to your readers.
So, consider starting a special interest magazine (or blog) and combine this with either advertising revenue from someone like Google or create a relationship with a company offering a unique product.

SURVEYS
I participate in one survey that offers points instead of cash but it does run sweepstakes for cash each month and you can redeem your points for cash.
I have received name brand cat food, laundry supplies, snack foods, free music downloads through MSN and even cash. I haven’t received any SPAM that I could identify as coming from them.
After I wrote a column about this for my local newspaper some readers joined through an invitation from me and no one has reported any problems.
All the 3 websites you have mentioned are quite genuine. But these require your personal website to place link on that for earning commission. Any way, if you want to participate in surveys, the companies provide you your own website link. BUT about % of such companies are cheats. You cannot rely on them. Recently, I have gone through the following websites, which I feel are genuine. You may also see, if they can suit you.

I have tried a few. However, it was more like they wanted me to pay them for taking the survey. I have recieved free samples of ‘dog food sauce’ and ‘ laundry soap w/fabric softner’. I am still waiting for those "free groceries" certificates, and the Department store cash cards.(for about three months)
yes, and they do not work. its i good way
for you to get spam in your e-mail. And some
of them you have to sign up for other ads as i call them
There are many affiliate programs where you could really earn money. However, be careful of scammers. There are a lot of these ones too. There are several paid surveys that work, but it is really very hard to define which ones are legitimate.
Both would help you earn money online. However, you also have to work hard on these moneymaking programs. If you are curious about affiliate programs and other online moneymaking programs, you may want to read my posts on these ones:
